Hi! Long time no post! If you happen upon this site, please also come see my current daily photo project, Amanda’s Daily Photography! I’m shooting it on instant film, so it’s quite a bit different than The “Amanda Loves” Project.

Cheers!

Day 359/365 – I love my leopard print tights!

My sister’s eyes got “real big” when she saw my tights at church the other night. I admit, they are a bit ostentatious by some standards, but I really love them! I don’t wear these tights often because they’re kinda loud and don’t go with a lot of my clothes. I like to break them out whenever I do get the chance though, because I feel so snazzy when I have these tights on!

Day 358/365 – I love that I stumbled upon this great mural!

On my way home from work on 358/365, I saw something I wanted to photograph. I needed to be on the other side of the road to do it though, and turned onto a side street so I could change the direction that I was driving. As I was making the block, I saw this awesome mural. I searched for information about it and found this blog entry by one of the artists involved with the mural. I don’t know anything about the Beltline Community, but I’m always interested in learning more about the neighborhoods/communities within Memphis.  I’m so glad I discovered this gem, especially since I had meant take a picture of something completely different that day!

Day 355/365 -I love to sing!

Singing is my favorite thing to do.

However, singing was a very scary thing for me to do in the beginning. Those who have known me longest and best will know that my mom is THE singer of all singers. Every church my mom sang at, my siblings and I were asked by strangers, “Do you sing too???” I can’t speak for my brothers and sister, but this intimidated me SO MUCH. We would always just shake our heads “No” when people asked us about it. Mom never pressured us to sing, which was great. And my sister must not have been as scared as I was, because she began singing at church and in choirs pretty early on. But for me…I just couldn’t.

It wasn’t until I was 21 and living in South Carolina, that I finally sang in public. I don’t really know how it happened. My sister had a CD accompaniment track to a song that was meant for two people, and she knew my brother-in-law’s voice wouldn’t be well-suited to this song. She asked me if I would sing it with her, even though I’m pretty certain she hadn’t heard me sing much, even in private, because I was so self-conscious about it. However, that certain something within me made me say “Yes” to my sister and I made my debut, singing a duet with her at the church were attending at the time. It was definitely a defining moment in my life.

I could go on and on about singing, but just suffice it to say: once I started singing, I’ve never been able to stop.

Day 343/365 – I loved the BBQ at Richard’s house!

And this is Calvin’s “Fire Pit Promo” during the BBQ.

This was basically one of the best nights I’d had in many moons. My attendance to the BBQ was extremely last minute for me, but I am SO glad I went! I LOVED hanging out with friends there that night! Not to mention the fact that the Shaws hunted down some veggie burgers for me as the last-minute-non-meat-eating-guest, too! Super sweet of them.

It was a great night of fellowship, and I even got a mini “girls’ night” with Ashley and Bekah afterward. It was  night of many laughs, indeed!

Just a quick note: I had a Crisis of Technology early on in The Project, when two laptops broke/died. I’ve not had a Crisis of Non-Technology, you might say. I spent last week shooting for “Amanda Loves” with my Lomo LC-A, a film camera. It wasn’t until earlier this week when I realized that the camera wasn’t working! I somehow didn’t notice that the lights in the viewfinder weren’t on when I took pictures. That’s a temperamental camera, and it’s now forced me to “cheat day” most of last week. Thank goodness I’d shot tons all during the “silent months” of The Project, so I have lots saved up for a crisis such as this!

Day 277/365 – I love[ed] Ashley’s dreads!

OH! Ashley had dreads and they looked quite good on her. Alas, I got word that she had to remove them because they were giving her headaches. I thought I’d pay homage to her dreadlocks, even if they were short-lived.

R.I.P., Ashley’s dreadlocks.

Day 268/365 – I love rainy day comfort meals!

I think there’s not much better on a cold, rainy day than some feel-good food. In my case on 268/365, I found that a vegetarian corn dog and mini pretzels did the trick. Made me feel real cozy inside!

Day 246/365 – I loved my Snow Day with Anna Marie!

Post 245/365 was about the initial dusting of snow we received. This post is about the SIX INCHES [!!!] of snow to which Anna Marie awoke the next day. It was such a good day together. We did a good job of spending a bit of time outside, going indoors to unthaw with hot chocolate, going outside again, going in again when we got cold, and so forth and so on. It really couldn’t have been a better day, concluding with homemade biscuits and veggie sausage for dinner and an after dark snowball fight. It was a real memory-maker [one which I think will warrant a more extensive photo blog over on Shoot With Personality here shortly…]

Day 241/365 – I love the “sick day” oranges Lisa gave me!

I had to stay home from work yesterday because I wasn’t feeling well. I had to get out of the house to get some Nyquil, so swung by Rob and Lisa’s to drop of discs of family photos. Lisa greeted me at the door with some oranges her grandmother sent her, because she said they’d help me feel better. They were super delicious! I love oranges anyway, and these were wonderful and sweet. And Lisa being so thoughtful really brightened my day!
