Day 172/365 – I loved  the extra special baked goods on Father’s Day!

So THIS happened:

The day before Father’s Day, we had quite a lot of special orders at work. Through a series of events, we were left with two of the specially ordered cakes when we closed up shop for the weekend.  One was the fancy-pants Cindy Lou Who cake, with an inscription for (what appeared to be) a double-birthday party. The other was a 6″ Frankly Scarlett cake, that actually said “Happy Father’s Day.” Perfect! And, at that point, it seemed there was nothing to do but send the cakes home with the staff members on duty that night. There was some back and forth between my co-workers and myself about who would take which cake. I knew I’d be seeing my family the next day, and the “Happy Father’s Day” cake would be appropriate. But then again, wouldn’t we all get a big kick out of my bringing a pink birthday cake with “Macayla and Bob”  written on it, to Father’s Day lunch? I opted for the latter option

And as it turned out, BOTH cakes ended up coming home with ME.

And we DID all get a big kick out of the birthday cake being presented on Father’s Day and out of photographing dad holding said cake.

Don’t worry kids, I did also let dad hold the actual “Happy Father’s Day” cake for a photo as well.

  1. Your dad looked happier holding the “happy birthday Macayla & Bob” cake than the “happy father’s day” cake. Nice!
